The "Un-Candle" is now referred to as a "collectable", as it simply went out of production.

Why? Not through lack of demand or popularity but by the fact and circumstances that the manufactring company- Corning(ware) had serious issues. It has been said that the  manufacturer underwent internal restucturing in their glassware division. They sold coffee percolators in their millions, but they had to be recalled due to a faulty sleeve that held on to the heated pyro-thermal glass coffee pot.

The Un-Candle was a heavily discounted gift item that was used to encourage percolator buyers to return their goods! The Un-Candle became more of a nuisance to manufacture as other more serious issues cast it to memorabilia.

Late in 2014, Pepperell Braiding Company purchased the trademark rights to have the "Un-Candle" re-manufactured in China for re-distribution in theUnited States. The company makes candle wicks and the "Un-Candle" provided/provides a furthe vehicle to epand their "wick" sales. 

So the "Un-Candle" is back and so is style and social and environmental responsibilty.

Powered by only olive/vegetable oil, the floating candle can be used over and over again. With water acting as the supporting liquid for the small layer of oill to sit on- it is inherently safe. When an accident happens it self extinguishes. When it runs out of oil, water floods the fuel supply canals, and terminates the flame.
